Who Qualifies For A Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application procedure.

Applications at the moment are open and may shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must fulfill the subsequent criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a house with a combined gross household earnings that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined residence profits would not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and want not submit any evidence of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from 2025 nsfas application households with combined R350 my nsfas 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the right Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected within their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are researching or plan to research at a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
